THE RANKING
The 20 most common business jets
64 business jet families are on the US register. The ten largest make up 37% of the fleet. The list mixes new and old: the Cirrus Vision Jet SF50 has a median build year of 2022, the Cessna Citation II / Bravo 1991. Older families stay high because hundreds are still on the register. Each model links to its page with price, specs and the registered tails.

METHOD
How this is counted
- Model family. Aircraft are grouped on the FAA make and model designation, so variants certified under one designation count together (the Challenger 300, 350 and 3500; the Citation Excel, XLS and XLS+). Where one designation covers two families, the serial number splits them.
- Registered is not flying. The count includes stored, for-sale and newly delivered aircraft on the register. It is not a count of active aircraft or of flights.
- Certificates. Registration certificates issued in the 12 months to October 5, 2026 to aircraft still on the register: new deliveries, imports and changes of owner.
Source: FAA Releasable Aircraft Database, file of October 5, 2026, recounted with each site update. Aggregates and company names only: no N-number, serial number or person’s name. Counts of individually owned or co-owned aircraft under five are shown as “<5”. The full rules are in the ownership report’s method and on the open data page.
