METHODOLOGY
How the changes are counted
- Snapshots. Radar stores the business jets and turboprops of each FAA registry file it uses (the fleet of the ownership report) and compares the file of August 21, 2026 with the file of October 5, 2026.
- Added and left. A registration in the newer file and not the older one is an addition; the reverse is a removal (exports, cancellations, write-offs, expired registrations). An aircraft that left under one N-number and came back under another is an N-number change (103 this time) and is not counted as either.
- New production. An addition on the maker’s dealer certificate (FAA status M) or built this year or last. Other additions are mostly imports and aircraft returning to the register.
- Delivered. An aircraft on the maker’s dealer certificate in the older file and registered to an owner in the newer one.
- Changed owner. The same aircraft (N-number and serial number) with a different registrant name. Radar compares a one-way hash of the name and does not store or publish names.
- Privacy. Counts only. Changes involving an individual or co-owners are shown as “<5” when fewer than five.
